Sara Lynn Sanders

Sara Lynn Sanders, 48, died May 12th, 2025 at her Thorndale home with her husband and daughter by her side.

Sara was born March 28th, 1977 in Quanah, TX to Jim and Lynette Sweeney. She cherished the red dirt and wide open spaces that are characteristic of West Texas. She graduated as Valedictorian of Paducah High School in 1995.

In 2000, Sara met her husband, Josh Sanders. She always said she was happiest when she was with Josh. They welcomed their only child, Samantha, in 2005. Josh and Sara were married on June 2, 2012.

Always the most caring person, Sara graduated from Temple College as a Registered Nurse in 2009. She first worked as a rotating nurse before finding her passion for helping children at Milam County Health Department. From there, she went on to work as the district nurse for Rockdale ISD and, later, Thorndale ISD. She went to work each day hoping to change the students’ lives for the better in any way she could.

Sara was an avid reader, gardener, and chef. However, Sara considered her role as a mother to be the most important. She enjoyed cross-stitching, dancing to western swing, and rocking out.

Sara is survived by her daughter, Samantha Sanders, her husband, Josh Sanders, her parents, Jim and Lynette Sweeney, her sisters, Nancy McWhirter and Britt Williams, and many other beloved family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents James and Billye Sweeney and Carrol and Kathryn Green.

Sara will always be remembered for her infectious smile, love for laughter, and undying spirit.

Visitation will be held at 5:00pm on Friday, May 16th and funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 17th, both at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor, TX.
