Robert was a man of strong faith: he grew up and attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Taylor, where he served on numerous committees and was an elder. He was a beloved family man and took great pride in his loving wife, Naomi, and their daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He earned a scholarship to play college football at Rice University in Houston, TX. He proudly supported his Alma Mater by sporting his Rice ball cap and football jersey. He was always active & physically fit: he was a farmer/rancher by trade and worked many long hours in the fields, harvesting crops and tending cattle. His hobbies included hunting, playing dominoes and poker and BBQing for his family (he took special pride in his "hot sausage" on the grill). In his younger days, he enjoyed running, especially, in the heat of the day. He grew up listening to Elvis and was quite the dancer (he loved to jitterbug); he even owned an original pair of blue suede shoes. He was a loving family man with a keen sense of humor and will long be remembered for his giving nature and his wit. When he passed, he was living at Arbor House Assisted Living in Horseshoe Bay, TX. The staff expressed that he was a beloved figure there and that he would be sorely missed.
There will be a celebration of life at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Taylor, TX on Friday, August 1st at 10:30am. The family will host a luncheon following the burial at the SPJST Lodge 29, 5025 FM 619, Taylor, TX.
