Norman Herman Klotz

Norman Herman Klotz, 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 16, 2025, at Will-O-Bell Nursing Home in Bartlett, Texas.

He was born on January 17, 1932, in the Hoxie community to Walter and Marie Klotz, and was raised there alongside his siblings. Norman attended school in Hoxie and Thrall, graduating in 1950. After high school, he worked various jobs until he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1953. He served during the Korean Conflict as a Private First Class and Military Police Officer. For his service, he was awarded the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1954.

Before his military service, from 1951 to 1953, Norman worked as a salesman for Erwin Teggeman in Taylor, Texas. After returning from the military, he pursued higher education at Southwest Texas State (now Texas State University), where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Vocational Agriculture on August 7, 1958.

In June 1957, Norman married Janette Fisher at the Church of Christ in Rockdale, Texas. Together they had three children, and over the years, their family grew to include several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Norman worked as a state inspector for the Texas Department of Agriculture for 30 years, retiring on January 31, 1987. He was active in the Taylor community and proudly served as a member of the American Legion Post #39, Austin VFW Post #8787, Taylor Volunteer Fire Department, Taylor Jaycees, Texas Farm Bureau, and was a longtime supporter of the Taylor Livestock Show.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Marie Klotz; his brothers Glen Roy Klotz and Howard Klotz; his sister Helen Kaatz; brother-in-law Norman Kaatz; his son, Terrell Klotz; and his granddaughter, Melanie Klotz.

He is survived by his daughter Kim (Tom) Polley; his son Kevin (Wendy) Klotz; daughter-in-law Annette Klotz; grandchildren Thomas (Hillary) Polley, Morgan (Derrick) Shimek, Wesley Polley, Steven (Diane) Klotz, Jason (Amber) Klotz, Chris Klotz, Patricia Klotz, Holly Klotz, Kayla Klotz, and Nathan Elder; and great-grandchildren Gabe Polley, Noah Polley, Naomi Polley, Mylz Collinson, and Lake Everlee Klotz.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Will-O-Bell Nursing Home in Bartlett, the Legacy staff in Cameron, Embrace, Gentiva Hospice, as well as the Thrall Police and Fire Departments for their compassionate care and support.

Pallbearers are Thomas Polley, Wesley Polley, Steven Klotz, Jason Klotz, Chris Klotz and Kayla Klotz.

Honorary pallbearers are Gabriel Polley, Derrick and Morgan Shimek, Mylz Collinson, Holly Klotz.

Cherished in Memory Honorary Pallbearers will be Melanie Klotz.
