Marcella Albina Vrana Carpenter Neal, loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend, passed away on June 22nd, 2025 in Bastrop, Texas. She was 90 years old.
She was born on October 31, 1934 in Littlefield, Texas to Stanley and Wilma (Dubec) Vrana. At the age of 4, her family moved to Granger, Texas where she grew up on a farm and attended St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic School.
On March 3, 1953, she married Wallace B. Carpenter and to this union were born seven children, Rudy, Wallace, Mary, Debbie, Wayne, Michael, and William. Later in life, she married David Neal.
Marcella was a waitress at Sirloin Stockade, The Downtown Cafeteria, American Cafe, The Food Fair, Ferrari’s, Pappa’s and Noack Restaurant. She also ran the Taylor Pool Concession stand, worked in the Taylor High School Cafeteria and worked at Mrs. Walker's daycare center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Wilma Vrana, brothers, Frank (Emilie) Vrana, Rudy (Mildred) Vrana, Stanley Vrana and Joe (Betty) Vrana and sisters, Martha (Emil) Stefek and Mary (George) Hendrix. She was also preceded in death by her sons, Rudy (Linda) and Michael (Carol) Carpenter and granddaughter, Darla Brown.
She is survived by brothers, William (Sherry) Vrana and Johnny (Diana) Vrana and children, Wallace Carpenter, Mary Neighbors, Debbie (Jerry) Fleming, Wayne Carpenter and William Carpenter.
She is also survived by grandchildren, Christopher (Nicki) and Kristin Carpenter, Chance (Hawley) Carpenter, Cassie (Carlos) Nieves, Dana Carpenter, Chelsea (Sam) Glass, Tara Marks, Tamara (Jonathan) Alonzo, Trey (Adria) Fleming, Curtis Fleming, Jessayln (Clay) Byrom, Travis and Crystal Carpenter, Mistie, Eric, and Devin Carpenter, Hayli (Jason) Moore and Kayli (Dylan) Smitherman.
She is also survived by great grandchildren, Ashlyn, Jesica and Brantley Carpenter, Cayli Moreno, Carmen, Chloe, Caden, and Cambree Nieves, Charlotte Carpenter, Cobey Graves, Maci, Bailey and Zachary Brown, Caidalyn Hernandez, Keely and Ruari Glass, Atlas, Rio, and Dagny Stewart, Bentley and Camden Alonzo, Bethany, Trinity and Clara Fleming, Madison, MacKenzie and Carson Fleming, Violet Byrom, Adelie Carpenter and Markell Fitzgerald, Krosbi Kingery and Kamryn Moore, and Spade Smitherman.
She is also survived by great, great grandchildren, Sebastion Graves and Luca Sevilla.
Pallbearers are Christopher Carpenter, Travis Carpenter, Eric Carpenter, Markell Fitzgerald, Cobey Graves and Bentley Alonzo.
Honorary pallbearers are Trey Fleming, Curtis Fleming, Chance Carpenter and Devin Carpenter.
Visitation is planned for Thursday, June 26th, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with Rosary from 7:00 to 8:00 at the Providence Funeral Home in Taylor, Texas
Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday, June 27th, 2025 at 11:00 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylor, Texas followed by burial at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Taylor, Texas.
A meal will follow at the SPJST Hall in Taylor, Texas.
