Leah Rae (Batla) Strmiska peacefully passed away on January 21, 2026.
Leah was born in Taylor, Texas, to Victor and Maggie Batla. She lived in California, Oklahoma, and Texas while her father served in the military, eventually settling in Granger, Texas. There, she met and married the love of her life, E. J. Strmiska, in 1954.
Leah was a devoted wife, mother, Mimi, and Great-Mimi who leaves behind cherished memories for her five children: Debra (Jimmy) Cavanaugh, Greg (Amanda) Strmiska, John (Jackie McCoy) Strmiska, Becky (Lenard) Pekar, and Mona (Kevin) Krieg. Grandchildren: Steven (Emily) Strmiska, Keith Strmiska, Garrett Pekar, Corey (Megan) Strmiska, Caitlin (Kory) Scruggs, Lauren (Jason) Fellows, Kole Krieg, Benjamin Strmiska, Blake Strmiska, Addie Schneider, and Avery Parra; and her great-grandchildren: Hudson, Blakely, Kai, Quinn, Lincoln, Laramie, Collette, Emmalyn, Owen, and Wyatt.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years; her parents; her younger brother, Kenneth; and numerous family members.
Leah was a beloved member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church and a member of the Tuesday Study Club of Granger.
A lady of many talents, Leah generously shared her gifts of painting and decorating. These talents led to her love for retail, including ownership of Leah’s Bonnet, as well as her work with The Iron Gate, Salado Galleries, and more than twenty-five years at Northwest Hills Pharmacy.
Leah lived a full life marked by a deep love in caring for her family. Her family is most appreciative of her extended family of friends where she shared great times and trips.
Whether family or friends, her memory remains very much alive and very dear.
