Jesus “Jesse” Velasquez, 77, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on February 21, 1948, in Cadereyta Jiménez, Nuevo León, Mexico, to Guadalupe Velasquez and Rita Reya.
Jesse grew up in a large and loving family, one of eight children. He is preceded in life by his siblings Marcelina (married to Manuel Reyes), Sergio Velasquez, Sally Velasquez, Lupe Velasquez, Carmen Velasquez, Herminia (married to Pete Herrera), and Felix Velasquez (married to Mary Velasquez). His bond with his brothers and sisters remained a source of strength and pride throughout his life.
On April 4, 1970, Jesse married the love of his life, Ernestine Ramirez, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylor, Texas. Together they built a home filled with devotion, laughter, and unwavering support. They raised two sons, Gilbert and Gabriel, who were the center of Jesse’s world.
Jesse was a proud father and grandfather. His son Gilbert, married to Tiffany, blessed him with two grandchildren, Gilbert Allen and Mikayla Velasquez. His son Gabriel, married to Amy, gave him three grandchildren—Sierra, Gabriel, and Mia Velasquez. Jesse cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, who brought him endless joy.
A hardworking man all his life, Jesse dedicated many years to American Desk, where he helped craft furniture for schools, and later to Floyd’s Glass Co. in Taylor, where he skillfully cut materials for window frames. He took pride in his work and in providing for his family, always leading by example with humility and determination.
Outside of work, Jesse found joy under the hood of a car. He loved working on vehicles, especially his treasured 1966 International Rambler. Tinkering with engines and restoring parts wasn’t just a hobby for him—it was a passion that brought him peace, pride, and countless hours of satisfaction.
In his final years, Jesse was cared for with compassion and dedication by Olga Salazar. The Velasquez family extends their heartfelt gratitude to her for the kindness and support she provided during his time of need.
Jesse will be remembered for his deep love of family, his strong work ethic, and his gentle, steady presence. His legacy lives on in the generations he nurtured, the values he instilled, and the countless memories shared by those who knew and loved him.
He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
