Thrall, TX

James “Jimmy” Taisler of Bartlett, born August 11, 1949, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, at the age of 76. He was the beloved son of John Taisler and Matilda “Tillie” Schwertner Taisler.

Over the past several years, Jimmy faced many health challenges stemming from Agent Orange exposure during his service in the Vietnam War. Despite the complications these health issues caused throughout his later years, he faced them with the same strength, resilience, and stubborn determination that defined his life.

Jimmy proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he earned the rank of Sergeant while serving as an Armor Crewman. During his service, he received numerous honors and commendations, including the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sharpshooter Badge (Rifle), and Expert Badge (Pistol). His dedication, courage, and service to his country were a reflection of the quiet strength he carried throughout his life.

Jimmy was also widely known as “Painter” throughout the Taylor and Central Texas area because of his lifelong career in construction services painting residential and commercial properties. He took great pride in owning and operating his own business for more than 30 years, supporting his family through hard work, skill, and dedication. After retiring from painting, Jimmy continued working in construction industry as a supervisor for several companies, including MSI and RCI at the Alcoa Plant, where his knowledge, leadership, and work ethic earned the respect of those around him.

Jimmy was not a man of many words, but the words he spoke carried meaning and impact that stayed with those who loved him. He was steadfast, dependable, strong, and constant in the ways that mattered most. Known for his intelligence and wisdom, Jimmy was someone people turned to for guidance, advice, and honesty. He had a sharp wit and a personality that kept people on their toes, often showing affection through teasing and picking on the people he cared about most. If Jimmy gave you a hard time, it usually meant he liked you.

Through his quiet presence, unwavering character, and deep love for his family shown through actions more than words, he left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. He will be remembered not for grand gestures, but for the comfort, wisdom, and sincerity he brought into the lives of others.

He found joy in life’s simple things, especially sitting outside, watching old westerns, reading books, and taking trips to the river and the beach. Whether through subtle acts of love or the little moments that became lifelong memories, Jimmy created a legacy that will continue through his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his three children, Clinton “Bubba” Wesley, Courtney Schmidt, and Lauren Roberson and her husband Daryl. He also leaves behind his three beloved granddaughters, Morgan Stautz and her husband Marcus, Isabella Roberson, and Abigail Roberson. Jimmy is also survived by his two brothers, Ben and Jesse, along with many extended family members and loved ones who will continue to honor his memory and carry his love with them always.

He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Darlene Taisler; his mother, Matilda “Tillie” Schwertner Taisler; his father, John Taisler; his brothers, Henry and Richard; and his sisters, Ledia and Janie.

He was deeply cherished as a father, grandfather, brother, family member, and friend. His family finds peace in knowing they were able to spend time with him, share their love with him, and say goodbye.

His presence, wisdom, and stubborn sense of humor will be deeply missed. Though he was tough on the people he loved, there was never any doubt that he loved them deeply.

Jimmy will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

A private military honors funeral service for close family members will be held at a later date, with details to be shared by the family when arrangements are finalized.
