Charles “Lamar” McCormick, 83 years old, passed peacefully from this life on September 29, 2025. He was born February 3, 1942 in Rosenberg, Texas to Charles Harold and Georgia E. Sharp McCormick. He was raised in Temple, Texas and graduated from Temple High School in 1960.

Lamar joined the National Guard after graduation and was called to active Army duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was stationed at Fort Polk in Leesville, Louisiana where he met the first love of his life, Jimmie Nell Nicholas. They were married June 16, 1963 and began their lives together in Copperas Cove, Texas. It was here that they had their three children, Jonna, Temple, and Cove and where he began his 30 year career with Texas Power and Light/TU Electric. After a brief stint in Euless, Texas, the family moved to Taylor, Texas.

He found the second love of his life right across the street on Kingston Circle. He married Karen Sue Melching on July 30, 1994. They became the proud grandparents of 8 grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Lamar had a life long love of cars and in recent years spent most of his time in his garage lovingly restoring his 1934 Plymouth Hot Rod and 1959 Chevrolet Apache Truck. He was a longtime member of the Taylor Thunderbolts. He was also an avid hunter of dove, deer, and elk.

He was a very proud 59 year Master Mason of The Grand Lodge of Texas and The Scottish Right of Grand Masonry. He was a past Worshipful Master of the Mount Hiram Lodge No. 595 in Copperas Cove and the Solomon Lodge No. 484 in Taylor. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Taylor for 42 years and served as a trustee until the doors closed in 2019.

Lamar was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Jimmie Nell, and his daughter, Temple Masters and her husband, Clint Masters. He is survived by his wife, Karen McCormick; his sister, Rexora Towne; his daughter, Jonna Evans (Brent); his son, Cove McCormick (Casi); his grandsons, Collin Evans (Holly), Watson Evans, Michael Ivey, Gaven Ivey; and his granddaughters, Jimmie Evans, Julia Evans, Gracie McCormick, and Addie McCormick. He is also survived by many loving sister and brother-in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
