Anna Marie Chalupa Kovar left to be with the lord on February 28, 2026.
Anna was born to Otto and Valastra (Hurta) Chalupa on August 31, 1940. After her mother’s passing she was raised by her maternal grandparents, Frank and Annie (Hodon) Hurta.
She was known by those around her for her selflessness and her intelligence. She graduated from Taylor High School in 1958 as a member of the National Honor Society. Anna was offered a full scholarship to attend college, but she instead chose to stay home and support her little sister.
On February 27, 1969 she married the love of her life, Donald Kovar, and the pair remained married for 57 years, until her passing.
Anna retired from the Department of Public Safety after 31 years of service.
In addition to her steadfast commitment to her family, Anna was also a lifetime member of Taylor Brethren Church, a member of the Christian Sisters Lodge and SPJST 29. She was active in Sunday school and very involved in youth fellowship in the church, guiding young people in their faith.
Anna is survived by her beloved husband, Donald Kovar; sister Patsy Zrubek (Gene); and cherished family members, Terry Zrubek (Amanda), Marianna Zrubek, Monee Michna (Buddy), Ryan Host, Brayden Michna, Brooke Host, Katie Zrubek, Rylee Michna, Kolten Zrubek, Herbert Riethmayer (Betty), Aaron Riethmayer (Valorie), Tammie Riethmayer, Luc Riethmayer, Samuel Riethmaryer, Johnah Riethmayer, Debbie Gilmore (Shelton), JoAnn Licka (Wayne), Michael Janek (Mary), Lance Janek, Adam Janek, Emil Licka (Wendy), Josh Williams, and Matthew Licka.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Will-O-Bell Skilled Nursing & Rehab, especially Jasmin Hopson and Alexis Garcia.
Anna will be remembered for her faith, capacity for love, and care by all who had to good fortune to know her.
Services will be held at Providence Funeral Home located at 807 Carlos Parker Blvd NW on Thursday March 5, 2026. Visitation will be at 10 AM followed by a funeral service at 11 AM, graveside will be immediately after at Taylor City Cemetery.
