Myrtle "Artie" Johnson

Myrtle “Artie” Johnson, 88 years, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011.

Artie was born May 1, 1922 to Gus and Myrtle (Ruthven) Sanders near McDade, TX. She married Alvin Johnson December 22, 1939. Artie was a homemaker and was employed by various doctors and hospitals in the Houston area for 20 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Artie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, step-mother, one sister and two brothers.

Artie is survived by her children Fred Johnson and wife, Dedie, of Georgetown, TX, Charleye Theiss and husband, Clyde, of Leakey, TX, and Royce Johnson and wife, Sofia, of Houston, TX. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Her sisters, Arlene Schneider of Taylor, TX and Barbara Rawlins of Lexington, TX also survive her along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5-7 PM Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Providence Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be 11:00 AM on Friday, March 4, 2011 at Lexington Cemetery with Pastor Dellon Rawlins officiating.
